I strive to create software and websites which are simple to use, but contain complex technology behind the scenes. This is a magical combination for delighting end users.I particularly look for opportunities to use machine learning methods in web applications. When dealing with lots of messy data, techniques such as clustering and classification can provide a decisive improvement in user experience.
These days I'm focused on new ideas with a social dimension. It looks like the coming years will be characterized by four interrelated problems - oil depletion, climate change, water shortage and food inflation. I'm interested in ways the Internet can be used to help meet these challenges, starting with Carbon Catalog.
